Can You Make Effective Video Content on a Budget?

Video Production

The budget we allocate for advertising purposes is fundamental. And we are not talking about DIY clips; rather, we're referring to professional, valuable content that will not only improve sales but also positively impact the brand image.

The quality segment we operate in when choosing tools for producing marketing materials depends on the amount of funds. Often, young entrepreneurs do not plan a budget for the promotion and advertising of their products or services in the longer term. And even if they do, they are unable to determine what budget they should allocate for marketing activities in their company.

So, How Can You Establish a Presence Online and Reach your Audience and Potential Customers Without a Large Budget?

Certainly, we should not force the creation of low-budget advertising. Why? Because it will neither be valuable content nor positively impact the image of our company. The internet is flooded with a mass of different videos, and we must realize that to stand out, it is not enough to produce something ordinary. We need to invest a lot of creativity and commitment into our film projects.

Let's assume we are opening a hair salon and want to establish a presence on social media so that our service, and above all, our brand, sticks in the memory of our audience. Firstly, we need to divide the budget into two parts: content production and its subsequent promotion. What good are videos, photos, or animations if no one sees them?

At this stage, it is worth contacting a proven marketing agency or production house to verify production capabilities regarding the budget we have. A proven agency does not necessarily mean a market leader, as such companies usually do not operate on low budgets; rather, it refers to boutique agencies or agencies by recommendation. For a project manager, a good brief is the most important thing because it is the basis for pre-production considerations.

Returning to our hair salon. During this one photo shoot day, we select, for example, the 3 most spectacular treatments. We do not focus on the entire process because it is not an instructional film. We record the most interesting fragments of the entire process until we get the essence of the service in 2-3 shots. With 40 good shots, chosen typography, and graphic design, we can edit about 15 short video forms in various configurations. All these formats will allow us to conduct advertising campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.

Additionally, if we have the material recorded in high resolution, as part of content recycling, we can use frame stills to design banners for Google campaigns or as thumbnails for the aesthetic layout of our YouTube channel.

All the advertising materials produced from one photo shoot day and subsequent post-production can be the basis for a fresh social media advertising campaign for up to six months.

How Much Does a Professional But Basic Photo Shoot Day Cost?

The total cost of such a photo shoot day will probably range from 15,000 to 25,000 PLN. However, if we wanted to produce a good TV commercial involving a director and a cinematographer, which generates additional costs for a full film crew, the amount would start from 90,000 PLN. The difference is substantial. However, this does not mean that producing a classic high-budget commercial is bad. There is no point in favoring form over content – it's simply not for everyone and not at every stage of business marketing development.

High-budget advertising is a great way to promote a product and, to a certain extent, was one of the few ways to reach a wide audience through television broadcast. However, in the age of the Internet and social media channels, we have a diverse choice of both video advertising forms and fields of exploitation that we can precisely tailor to the company's budgetary capabilities.

Another way to reduce production costs is to use popular offer platforms where we can collaborate with freelancers. In this case, however, we must be aware that most duties such as: concept development, work schedule, creative matters, logistics, and many other production process-related issues will fall on the client. In the case of agencies, all these tasks are taken over by the production manager or project manager.

If you run a business with a development perspective and feel that now is the time to start thinking about marketing activities, but you are not sure how to go about it, where to start, what type of content to create, and what budget to allocate, consult with an agency. The initial conversation is non-binding and free, and it will certainly dispel any doubts.
